Assumpcio Mateu is a Catalan artist, painter and engraver born in Girona, Spain in 1952. In 1970 she began his studies at the Sant Jordi Faculty of Fine Arts in Barcelona and at the same time studied Graphic Design at the Elisava School in the same city, graduating in 1975. Later she studied Cinematography at the Center of Image Studies. From 1979 began teaching art at the Sant Jordi Fine Arts Faculty at the Central University of Barcelona. In 1988 she obtained a Doctor of Fine Arts Degree from the Central University of Barcelona. In this same year she decided to dedicate himself exclusively to painting. Mateu has exhibited widely and her work is in many public collections and in private collections in France, the Netherlands, Andorra, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, Spain, Ireland, Finland, Denmark, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, the United States, and Canada.
