Assumpcio Mateu was born in Girona in 1952. In 1970 she began her studies at the Sant Jordi Faculty of Fine Arts in Barcelona and at the same time studied Graphic Design at the Elisava School in the same city, graduating in 1975. Later she studied Cinematography at the Center of Image Studies. From 1979 she dedicates herself to teaching as a painting teacher at the Sant Jordi Fine Arts Faculty at the Central University of Barcelona. In 1988 she obtained a Doctor of Fine Arts Degree from the Central University of Barcelona. From 1990 she decided to dedicate herself exclusively to painting. She is a painter and visual artist who is basically focuses on reflecting nature in her works from different perspectives. Her work is found in public and private collections around the world, including France, the Netherlands, Andorra, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, Spain, Ireland, Finland, Denmark, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, the United States, and Canada.
