We maintain an artist index, auction art prices, and image collections for artwork sold at auction in Canada from 2001 till today.
We only index records from the major art auction houses listed on this page.

We generate an Artist Value, based on the highest sale records in our database.

We make available for free the highest price for each artist from the index and provide the list of records sorted from highest to lowest sale, but the estimates and sale price are only available for a paid subscription, which helps us with the maintenance costs.

For visitors using a desktop computer, we provide a Chrome browser extension that comes in handy when browsing other art websites.

Our Premium subscribers can manage and download PDF Auto Estimations with break-down calculations.

We do not buy, sell, consign, or hold art auction events.

We are not art specialists and cannot advise on the value of an artwork you own.

We do not provide personalized estimates, or any help with selling or buying art pieces.

If the value is over $1,000, you should contact the auction house listed on this page or find an art gallery in your neighbourhood.
If you cannot identify the artist or cannot find their name listed on any website with art price records,

• Ask your friends or family if they are interested in getting it.
• Try selling on eBay.
• Post an ad on Kijiji.
• Sell directly to other art collectors, try Les Collectionneurs Associés/Associated Art Collectors or other websites.

If you have a collection you want to sell, you could try to organise a Maxsold downsizing auction.

Before deciding to buy an artwork you found online, you should make sure you are buying an original piece and do your research about the price. Please read our How to Valuate Art page.

High-value resale art items are usually sold through auction events where potential buyers can check them out and do their research before bidding.

We load public auction sale records only from leading Canadian Art auction houses after major auction events and at the end of the year.
The artist value we estimate is calculated from the top 5 - 10 sales records. For artists with many records, this value does not change dramatically during the year.

When we load public auction sale records from Art auction houses, we try to match the artist's name with the existing index.
Sometimes the name is quite different, and we prefer to add duplicate records because some visitors might know the artist by that name.
