The artist was born in St. Petersburg, Russia. After studying at the Royal Academy of Arts in London, she came to Toronto in 1929 where she associated with Lawren Harris, J.E.H. MacDonald and A.Y. Jackson. From 1930-37 the artist lived in the Studio Building in Toronto which is where she undoubtedly met Jackson.
This lot is being sold to benefit the Orangeville and District Branch of the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
