Note: Judson immigrated to New York from Manchester, England with his family in 1952. As a young man he was educated both in the United States and Canada. After serving for four years in the American Civil War, Judson studied art in New York and at the Academie Julien in Paris. He settled in Ontario for a period of time, working and exhibiting with both the OSA and the RCA. He moved permanently to the United States in 1890, living for a short time in Chicago and finally settling in Los Angeles, where he became part of the influential Arroyo group and founded the Los Angeles College of Fine Arts.
