These are from a set of 6 premium prints created for Imperial Tobacco, âÀoeThe Perils of Early GolfâÀ depicting Scotsmen playing golf in a prehistoric setting. From the collection of Regina artist David Thauberger.
Notes:
Walter R. Duff was born in Hamilton, Ontario in 1879. He studied at the Hamilton School of Art and the Art Students' League (New York, 1899-1902). He was a printmaker and painter, specializing in portraits and landscapes. He was a founding member of the Graphics Club of Canada IN 1904, and his works are represented in the National Gallery of Canada and the Art Gallery Sudbury, among others. Walter R. Duff died in Toronto in 1967.
