There is much uncertainty about the identity of the watercolour artist W. Stewart. The style is very similar to that of Frederick James Aldridge, so the works are assumed to be by a student of Aldridge or by Aldridge himself painting under a pseudonym. There is much discussion online about this artist and the mystery of these attributions.
