Vladimir Komarek was born in Horensko u Semil, Czech Republic, in 1928. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, studying painting and printmaking. Throughout his career Komarek specialized in illustration and graphics, creating hundreds of prints and illustrating many books. His work was widely collected and awarded throughout Europe. Vladimir Komarek died in 2002 in Jilemnice, Czech Republic.
