Lot description - from the online catalogue*
Noll Colin Derriksan, known as Toussowasket, was born in 1940, on the Westbank First Nation, British Columbia. He was self taught, but very active in art making and art administration throughout his life, and was Chief of the Westbank First Nation from 1968 to 1974. Toussowasket later owned an art gallery in Westbank, BC, and was President of the Indian Arts and Crafts Society of British Columbia. In 2018 his work was showcased at a retrospective exhibition at Penticton Art Gallery. Toussawasket died two years later, in 2020.
