Torrie Ironstar was born in 1986 at Carry the Kettle Nakota First Nation, in Saskatchewan, and grew up in Regina. Born deaf, Ironstar learned sign language in public school, and found his strongest outlet for communication when he began to paint in high school. Ironstar came out as Two-Spirit in the late 20s. Ironstar works in a contemporary Indigenous style, exploring a variety of mediums, including screen-printing, collage, oil painting, graphic design and set design, all infused with radiant colours and mixed media collage. Torrie Ironstar continues to live and work in Regina, Saskatchewan.
