From the Gary Robertson Historical Print Collection (Regina). This piece is also in the collection of the British Museum (London).
Notes:
Thomas Rowlandson was born in 1756 in London. Thomas Rowlandson was born in 1756 in London. At age sixteen he studied in Paris for two years before returning to London to study at the Royal Academy. He gravitated toward caricature as a means of making a living. Generally Rowlandson's caricatures were drawn and then colour washed before the artist himself etched a copper plate, with each print then coloured by hand. Thomas Rowlandson died in 1827 in London.
