Sydney Kirkness was born in 1950 in Fisher River, Manitoba. He was a dedicated painter from Opaskwayak Cree Nation (Manitoba) and studied at Red Deer College and the Banff School of Fine Arts, where his artwork can be found in the permanent collection. Sydney Kirkness died in Fisher River in 2010.
