ARTIST STATEMENT

Born and bred in the Canadian Rockies, Susan Clarahan seeks out environments that foster inspiration and a sense of wonder. Drawing inspiration from the natural world, Clarahan articulates her vision through a variety of mediums: sculpture, video, wearable art, animation, painting, writing and interactive art; providing a wide spectrum of work and exploring a variety of modes of display.

Her excitement lies in the Feminine, the Canadian landscape and the magical potential of New Media art. Clarahan acts to literalize Art's creative forces: Sustenance, Healing and Communion. Treasuring the heart, animal medicine, intuition and the microcosm, she works to bridge the mind-body gap that often exists in Western thought.

Susan Clarahan holds a Bachelors' of Fine Art from Alberta College of Art & Design, specializing in Media Arts + Digital Technologies, and currently works at The Banff Centre as an Interactive Designer.
