ARTIST STATEMENT
I referenced the Greek myth of Icarus, who flew on wings made of feathers and wax. I emphasized fearlessness and risk, the potential gain or loss in a situation. I focused on Icarus' decision, and his courage to fly close to the sun ignoring warning and consequence. I abstracted the moment of Icarus' fall using feathers and wax as an allusion to the relationship between courage and failure.
