Notes:
Simon Combes was born in Shaftesbury, England, in 1940. His family moved to Kenya when he was six, and he resided in Kenya for most of his life, attracting recognition for his paintings of African wildlife and for his dedication to conservation. He began exhibiting his artwork in the late 1960s, and soon began winning international awards. Simon Combes died in 2004, in Kenya.
