SEISMIC BLOOMS; 2011

acrylic on canvas

36 x 48 in. (91.4 x 121.9 cm)

ARTIST STATEMENT

I grew up hearing stories (which my young imagination embellished and dramatized) of adventures collecting seismic data in the arctic, told to me by my geophysicist father. Taking the imagery that captured me most, (geophones and dynamite, the heavy machines, the seismographs themselves, as well as the northern Alberta landscape) I pieced together a directional composition and warm abstraction.

In my practice, fibre mediums usually dominate. Staying true to that tradition of woking, as well as to the history of Renaissance painting, this particular piece was originally developed as a tapestry illustration.
Most realised prices include the Buyer's Premium of 18-25%, but not the HST/GST Tax.
