Born in 1947 in Wales the daugher of a Royal Air Force officer, Roz Marshall's formative years saw her live in various places including Washington D.C. and Bahrain, until her family's eventual immigration to Canada in 1962 when they settled in Vancouver, British Columbia.
In 1970, Marshall completed her studies at the Vancouver School of Art, specializing in painting, graduating with honors. During her time there she had the privilege of learning under Donald Jarvis, Bruce Boyd, and Jack Shadbolt, to whom she attributes her distinctive artistic approach. She studied further in ceramics and drawing at High Wycombe College of Art in England, as well as printmaking at the Alberta College of Art. Best known for her vibrant and intricately adorned still-life paintings, Marshall exhibited extensively throughout Western Canada for many years and was represented by Bau-Xi gallery.
