Roland Julius Christensen was born in 1923 in Quincy, Massachusetts. He studied at the Boston Museum School of Fine Art and the Vesper George School of Art (Boston), and established a decades-long career in the Boston area as a painter, printmaker and muralist. He began teaching at the New England School of Art (Boston) in 1963, and later moved to New York City, where he lived and works for twenty years. Christensen held more than seventy-five one person shows throughout North America and his work can be found in many public collections.
