Artist Robin Frey grew up in Sarasota, Florida, taking art classes as a child at the Ringling School of Art. She received her B.F.A. from Eastern Mennonite University, in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Upon graduating, she moved to New York City and continued her academic training at The Art Students League of New York. Frey furthered her oil painting skills with Nelson Shanks at Studio Incamminati, and helped establish the atelier. She also studied with Michael Grimaldi, Dan Thompson, and Darren Kingsley. In 2008, she received an Honor Award in the Portrait Society of America's 2008 Portrait Competition. The artist has participated in numerous group exhibitions throughout the country including those at The Union League of Philadelphia; Mohawk Valley Community College, in Utica, New York; and for the American Red Cross of Central New Jersey. Frey currently resides in Philadelphia, where she is a Teaching Fellow at Studio Incamminati.
