ARTIST STATEMENT
I am originally from the Blackfoot Nation of" SIKSIKA" . I have always been inspired by my ancestral and spiritual ways. And through this I have looked into the past and merging traditional and modernity to my work.
My work expresses the idea of how we have lost our buffalo in the past that had almost decimated my peoples way of life. But today the spirit of the buffalo still lives on and thriving, even though there are only small numbers today. The expression of my work shows that the Blackfoot people are and will always be part of the buffalo.
The buffalo still shines ahead with all the native peoples of the plains, and leaving behind the death of the old buffalo, but to move ahead for a new generation, but they are never forgotten, and still live on in our memories, but respected and painted and revered in traditional ceremonies of the Plains Natives.
Colour has always been part of the Blackfoot peoples way of life in ceremonies and traditional clothing and especially our tipi's. and using these colours to express the continuous celebration of life.
Most realised prices include the Buyer's Premium of 18-25%, but not the HST/GST Tax.
