Richard Bedwash was an Ojibwe Canadian artist born on a reservation near Hillsport, Ontario. Bedwash began painting in 1967 and apprenticed with Norval Morrisseau. His work featured images that represent the stories and legends of the Ojibwe heritage. They mostly depicted the animal figure and its symbolic and spiritual meaning to the people. Bedwash's style is known as Woodland Spirit Art.
