Pierre Soulages was born in 1919 in Rodez, France. He began studies at the Ecole National Des Beaux-Art, in Paris, but soon dropped out because he was disappointed with their traditional approach. He later studied at the Fine Arts School of Montpellier, and then opened a studio in Paris where he painted in complete abstraction, favouring the use of black as the dominant colour. He continued to explore abstraction throughout his career, which included many major solo exhibitions, including Centre National d'Art et de Culture George Pompidou (Paris), Hermitage Museum (St. Petersburg), Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow), Louvre Museum (Paris) and Museum of Mexico City. Pierre Soulages died in Nimes, France, in 2022 at the of 102.
Most realised prices include the Buyer's Premium of 18-25%, but not the HST/GST Tax.
