Provenance:
Private Collection, Montreal
Notes:
Peter Sevoga’s original and monumental sculptural style earned him renown as an artist by the time he was in his early twenties. Although the subject matter of his work spans from muskoxen to bears, he is well-known for his “group carvings” of mother and child, or family groups. These images are powerful in their “distinguished and distinctively bulging Baker Lake style.” (George Swinton, “Sculpture of the Inuit”, 1994)
