Lot description - from the online catalogue*

Provenance:
Private Collection, Toronto
Notes:
Haida carver, Pat Dixon was born on the Queen Charlotte Islands in the village of Skidegate in 1938. Pat showed amazing technical skill early on in carving where his love of the medium of Argillite became apparent. He moved to Vancouver in 1966 where he established a working relationship with fellow Haida carver Pat McGuire. Dixon acknowledges McGuire's influence, but suggests that it should not be overemphasized. He credits the positive affects of Bill Holm's book Northwest Coast Indian Art on his understanding of flat design. Pat Dixon works of the late 1960's and early 1970s are revered as some of the finest pieces of Argillite to come from the productive genius of himself, and master McGuire's minds. Over the years he has produced many model poles, pendants and broaches.
Most realised prices include the Buyer's Premium of 18-25%, but not the HST/GST Tax.
