Ohotaq Mikkigak born 1936 m.

Printmaker: Eyeetsiak Peter born 1937 m., Cape Dorset

Two Hawks Fighting, 1961 #31, stencil, A/P, 21 x 20.5 in, 53.3 x 52 cm sight, 30 x 29.875 in, 76.2 x 75.9 cm framed

Ohotaq abandoned his artistic career after just a few images in the early 1960s, and found employment as a janitor at the Peter Pitseolak School. Upon his retirement he began drawing again, and has contributed dozens of wonderfully quirky images to annual collections since 1999. This image is brilliant in its simplicity; essentially, the two birds are the same image rotated about 120° or so. The effect is almost dizzying; one easily imagines the birds swirling, chasing each other, one can hear their angry shrieks.
Most realised prices include the Buyer's Premium of 18-25%, but not the HST/GST Tax.
