Lot description - from the online catalogue*

Provenance:
Private collection, Montréal
Notes:
Murray Favro was born in Huntsville, Ontario, in 1940. He began his career as a painter. His high-impact paintings from the early 1960s were executed in oil and automotive enamel on Masonite. He moved to London as a teenager and is an important figure among a significant generation of artists - Jack Chambers, Greg Curnoe, and Ron Martin among them - who became active in that city during the decade when his career was taking off; they drew national attention as the London Regionalist School. The painting offered here is on canvas and is a later example of a quintessential Favro subject: the motorcycle. It is painted with the remarkable fervour, verisimilitude, and technical virtuosity that marks all his work.
Most realised prices include the Buyer's Premium of 18-25%, but not the HST/GST Tax.
