ARTIST STATEMENT

'Vacant Condition,' from the series 'eye of the storm' is a return to two-dimensional painting from a year span of creating three-dimensional painting/installations. The investigations into entering space and working responsively within it have lead to the new series of paintings thinking of spaces in their most simple form, vacant. The paintings much like the installations are based upon the structures they inhabit. The square of the canvas informs the way the paint is applied. There is a direct relationship between empty space and a blank canvas, in Vacant Condition the empty space is mimicked through the use of paint on a two dimensional surface. Playing with illusionist space and structure attempts to talks about the environment in which art is made and displayed.
Most realised prices include the Buyer's Premium of 18-25%, but not the HST/GST Tax.
