Provenance:
This image is sometimes misidentified as Emperor Trajan at the Benevento Arch. From the Gary Robertson Historical Print Collection (Regina). This print can also be found in the British Museum (London).
Notes:
Marco Piccioni was born in 1615 in Ancona, Italy. He lived and worked mostly in Rome, specializing in painting and etching, and he was an academic in the Accademia di San Luca. He died in 1671 in Rome.
