Provenance:
Private Collection, Montreal
Notes:
Maltais studied under Jean-Philippe Dallaire and Jean-Paul Lemieux. She was swept up by the modernist whirlwind that mobilized the avant-garde milieux in Quebec to explore the notions of abstraction in painting. Along with Rita Letendre and Marcelle Ferron, she produced oils rich in colour. By 1968, she abandoned abstraction for more representational art.
"Feline" immortalizes the artist's favourite Calico cat.
