Notes:
Mara Korkola's "No PlaceÁ series is an ongoing exploration of landscapes experienced in transience: dark streets and glowing street lights sliding past a car window, or dusky sunset fuzz filtering through thick canopies of leaves. "No Place 243-2,Á 2010, is a pristine example of these glimpsed moments. Painted from a series of photographs taken while walking the Bruce Trail, the panel taken from landscape presented to the artist as she walked by. It seems to be a grey evening, the damp end of winter. A ground of sodden leaves cradles a dim puddle (snowmelt?), reflecting a tangle of birch trees, leading like a fairy path to the distant red-purple branches of bare dogwood. Half-perceived in the gloom, details shudder and dissolve into their constituent colours: blues and browns and purples, easing into the shadow of early evening and passing memory.
Most realised prices include the Buyer's Premium of 18-25%, but not the HST/GST Tax.
