Note:

Louis Dulongpré was born in St.Denis near Paris. After studying art in Paris he joined the French Navy and ended up in America assisting revolutionaries in the American War of Independence 1776 . At the end of hostilities Dulongpré traveled to Montreal where he settled down as a music and art teacher. He painted numerous portraits of Quebec notables and also assisted in various church decorations.
