Lodewijk Frederik Hendrik (Louis) Apol (Dutch, 1850-1936) was a prominent 19th-century Dutch artist and member of The Hague School. The Hague School artists lived and worked in The Hague in the mid to late 19th century; their work was influenced by French realism and the Barbizon School.
This painting was held in the collection of Coenraad Veer, a prominent Prince Edward Island-based collector of Dutch and other European artworks.
