ARTIST STATEMENT

I am currently exploring the introspective and poetic relationshop I have with natural materials as I collect and interact with them in my studio. Curious Behaviour reflects this interest in the natural world by highlighting and appropriating the fantastic patterns existing within what was once a tree. This drawing installation works to evoke a sense of curiosity and discovery in the viewer by drawing their attention to what is already there.

The ephemerality of nature is strangely captivating because there is only a small window of time, in which it can be observed before it degrades entirely. The impermenance of life, as it applies to both nature and humans, is a concept reflected in all of my work. I take special care choosing my materials and their applications to be sure that they reflect this theme. Having my work installed indoors is significant contextually because it suspends time so that each piece can be viewed for what it is in that moment rather than what it was or what it will be.
Most realised prices include the Buyer's Premium of 18-25%, but not the HST/GST Tax.
