ARTIST STATEMENT

---

I believe that what I know about my world continues to expand and contract continuously. My generation now has to inhabit a society that worships the viral grow of information, shortened attention spans and rampant materialism and consumption. My own practice is driven by this constant need for new information or a fresh experience. I work with many different medias and my content is drawn from what I see as the infinite amount of materials that I could use in a unique way, whether that material be physical or digital.

In my process I remove materials from their original context and juxtapose it with something new to create something absurd. I often like to use parody and technobabble to change the content so it initially appears credible and trustworthy. As well as digital work I have other media projects where there is a diverse amount of conceptual and formal traits. My process is similar in which I experiment with placing untraditional aspects together to create artwork, but they could take the forms of drawings, paintings or sculptures; depending on which form the piece organically takes throughout the process. My formal work seems to imitate forms and systems of cells and organs, with sprawling oozes of pure colour and spheres, and is more of a celebration of the physicality of the materials as opposed to the transient nature of my digital body of work.

These switches between styles arise because of my own position as a contemporary artist of this upcoming generation. For us it is so difficult to lay claim to something groundbreaking that all we can do is keep experimenting until we hit the mark, and while this can be frustrating it is also what drives me to continue to create.
