The original ceramic relief of L’Homme Soleil was created by Jordi Bonet between 1973 and 1975 and is part of the collection of the Musée des beaux-arts de Mont-Saint-Hilaire. Bonet originally intended to produce an edition of 8 bronzes, however this project was put on hold due to his death in 1979. In 2008, Guy Laliberté, with the collaboration of the artist’s wife Huguette Bouchard-Bonet, undertook the goal to complete this intended project. Laliberté donated the fifth cast to the City of Montreal’s public art collection, and it is exhibited in front of the Albert-Dumouchel building at the corner of Lajeunesse and Fleury streets. This lot is from this same posthumous edition and is 2/8. A certificate from L'Atelier du Bronze accompanies this lot.
