Lot description - from the online catalogue*

Provenance:
Marlborough-Godard gallery, Toronto

Private collection, Ontario
Notes:
John Fox was influenced by Goodridge Roberts while attending the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, School of Art and Design (1946-49). He taught at the Saidye Bronfman Centre and Concordia University, and spent a significant time in Venice, Italy, from the mid 1970s until his death, in 2008. Using texture overlays and colour, his large canvases are quietly contemplative, elegant yet painterly. Fox's work is found in major public, corporate and private collections in Canada, the United States and Europe.

Vichy have a deceptively simplified composition that combines the assertive structure of soft geometric painting with gentle shifts of modulated colour in rectangular and organic shapes.
Most realised prices include the Buyer's Premium of 18-25%, but not the HST/GST Tax.
