Notes:
Massey began his career in the late 1970s and early 1980s, gaining national and international recognition for his installations, sculptures, and films. His work often explores themes of perception, memory, and the constructed nature of reality. In his Mexico series, Massey captures minimalist interior spaces and architectural details from his time in Mexico. These photographs evoke a sense of stillness and contemplation, blending elements of modernist aesthetics with a poetic exploration of space and light. The series reflects his ongoing interest in the interplay between the real and the imagined, a hallmark of his broader artistic practice.
Please note: the listed dimensions are for each individual work.
Consignor proceeds from the sale of this lot will benefit the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, with significant donations also being made to the Canadian Opera Company, the Glenbow Museum, the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, and the Pelee Island Bird Observatory.
