ABOUT THE ARTIST
John Cook (1918–1984) was a Canadian artist born in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He developed an interest in painting during his youth, which was interrupted by his service with the Canadian Army Signal Corps during World War II. While stationed overseas, Cook began painting and continued to pursue art upon his return to Canada. His work, often characterized by a loose, impressionistic style, focused on landscapes, maritime scenes, and rural life.
