Notes:
John Livingston was born in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1951, and grew up in Victoria, British Columbia. In 1965 he entered a design and carving apprenticeship at the Royal British Columbia museum under Henry Hunt and his son Tony Hunt, graduating in 1968 and devoting himself to Northwest Coast art. A master carver, painter and printmaker, John Livingston was also known as an expert restorer of Indigenous artifacts. He died in Victoria in March 2019.
