Provenance:
From the portfolio Ten Photographers, compiled in 1978 by and for the Women's Campaign Fund in a limited edition of 75. Portfolio 41/75 is held by the Library of Congress (Washington), another is held by The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
Notes:
Jill Freedman was born in 1939 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She grew interested in documentary photography and by the late 1960's Freedman's work was being published in Life Magazine and receiving solo exhibitions like at The Photographer's Gallery (London, 1974) Other her many other solo shows are Museum of Contemporary Photography (Chicago), Nikon Along (Tokyo) and Witkin Gallery (New York). Her major photography books include Circus Days (1975), Firehouse (1977), Street Cops (1982) and A Time That Was - Irish Moments (1987). Jill Freedman died in 2019 in New York.
