Provenance: (By repute) Dave Hennen Morris (1872- 1944) and Alice Vanderbilt Shepard Morris (1874–1950), of New York; by descent to Dave Hennen Morris Jr., of New York; by descent to Dave Hennen Morris 3rd; his widow Hazel Morris.
Note: There are 18 recorded paintings by Buttersworth depicting the America's Cup Sloops/1886 Races in which the British Galatea faced the defending American Mayflower.
