Notes:
Humphrey had a life-long appreciation of music, especially of the violin, which he played. From 1950 to 1957 he played in the string section of the local symphony orchestra in St. John, New Brunswick and often played in a small group for friends in his home. As this work illustrates, Humphrey had a strong command of composition and colour, giving the simple materials of the still life a presence and articulation which recall the still lifes of Cezanne, whose work he had admired in Europe.
Most realised prices include the Buyer's Premium of 18-25%, but not the HST/GST Tax.
