Isaaci Qurqaq Padlayat (1934-d) m.

Salluit (Sugluk)

Two hunters cutting up a walrus, ca. 1960-63, light grey stone and ivory, signed with disc no., 5.5 x 12.25 x 7.25 in, 14 x 31.1 x 18.4 cm

Hunting and killing a walrus was only the first phase of hard work. Skinning and flensing animals required much knowledge and skill, and was generally done right away with a specialized knife. Walrus meat might be eaten cooked or frozen; fermented walrus meat was considered a great delicacy.
Most realised prices include the Buyer's Premium of 18-25%, but not the HST/GST Tax.
