Note:
Inglis Sheldon-Williams (1870-1940) immigrated to Canada in 1887 settling with his family at Cannington Manor in southeastern Saskatchewan. He returned to England in 1891 to begin his art studies and in 1896 he attended the Slade School of Art in London.
In 1904 he married Ina Maud Thompson in England and continued to paint and exhibit regularly at the Paris Salon and the Royal Academy.
Returning to Saskatchewan in 1913 and in 1916 he organized the School of Art at Regina College.
Inglis Sheldon-Williams was appointed a Canadian war artist in 1917 and was dispatched to the Front in October 1918. The painting behind the artist is a part of his major mural in the Canadian War museum collection titled "The Return to Mons,".
