Hugo Alvarado immigrated to Canada as a political refugee in 1976 from his birthplace of Santiago, Chile. He eventually settled in Saskatoon, SK. Alvarado studied art at the University of Saskatchewan and was a student of artists William Epp and Stanley Day. His work mainly consisted of cityscapes, landscapes, still lifes, and nudes. He also taught art classes for the last 20 years. Alvarado's paintings were full of life, colour, and hope.
