[Nameplate inscription: "Blackadder" launched in Britain 1870 for the tea and Australian wool trade. Foundered off Bahia April 9, 1905.]

Hand written note affixed verso: China clipper "Black Adder" built by John Willis in 1870. After a very stormy career of accidents, dismastings, etc. and being stuck on an uncharted reef from which she was freed by a squall, "Black adder" was lot off Bahia on April 9th 1905"
