Helen Mackie was born in 1926 in Tavistock, Ontario. In 1973 she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in printmaking and drawing from the University of Calgary where she studied with John Esler and Noboru Sawai. A master printmaker, Mackie's strong images and vibrant use of color result in a feeling of energy and highlight her compassion and sense of humour. Helen Mackie passed away in Calgary, AB. in 2018.
