Notes:
Gustaf Fjaestad influenced many generations of artists both in Europe and North America. In Canada, he and other Scandinavian artists influenced the Group of Seven and in particular, Lawren Harris. As the Vancouver Art Gallery's biography of Harris relates, "Around 1915, Lawren Harris and his colleagues found resolve in the example of Scandinavian artists such as Fjaestad, who combined an awareness of issues of verisimilitude with a strong sense of design."

This painting was acquired in 1928 when it was on display at The Swedish Art Exhibition that took place in Riga, Latvia at The City Art Museum.
