Notes:
George J. Berry was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1921. His interest in landscape painting dates to his public school days, and his work carries the influences of his early mentor, Ernest Lindner. Berry recalls his tutelage: â??Dad once took me down to visit Ernie's studio in the London Building, where I saw his first paintings of Waskesiu -- Emma Lake was still in the future. "I believe as a result of this visit, I was accepted as a student (the youngest) on Ernie's Sunday afternoon sketching trips to the river bank across from the Bessborough."
