In finely carved giltwood frame
Size: 30 x 25 in (76 x 64 cm)
Note: The English born Harvey was a participant of the Hudson River School. He came to New York in 1820 and was elected to the National Academy of Design in 1828. Around 1834 he purchased a tract of land on the Hudson River at Hastings-on-Hudson, where he built a home. In 1841 he published a portfolio of engravings titled "Harvey's Scenes of the Primitive Forest of America, at the Four Periods of the Year," depicting a wilderness story of pioneer labours against the backdrop of gigantic first-growth forests.
